There was also much discussion of water, a particular interest of GZA, whose albums include "Beneath the Surface" and the classic "Liquid Swords." (He’s working on a follow-up to the latter.) What makes water molecules vibrate in funky ways? Temperature, pressure, pH, and salt, said Rinn. What’s the ideal alkalinity for drinking? Around 8.5, said GZA, who recently bought a $4,500 ionizer because he was tired of spending $7 a day on Fiji Water.
There was music criticism, too. Pardis Sabeti, a Harvard evolutionary biologist who moonlights as the lead singer of a rock band, told GZA she was disappointed in what record executives want these days. Too generic, she said. GZA agreed. GZA lectures at Harvard

Web Submissions: Kielnhofer Light Bench
As a variation on the "funny ball bench" (pictured below), we present to you photos from Manfred kielnhofer’s latest project, the "Light Bench"… at least that’s what we’re calling it.
\
Ok, we fully realize that this joint is just a bunch of plywood with some, er, medicine balls underneath it. We even wonder what happens to the buttocks of a person who sits on one of the rounded protruding cut-out parts.
The thing that’s different about this new project? The bench is now light-bright, which, in a public setting, is sure to disturb the sweet dreams of any bum and/or ninja who may be spending the night peacefully sleeping au naturel and/or vomiting off the side. Pictures you say?
In all its splendor. That’s basically all you get… I’m pretty sure I proved last week that if you give me some garbage press release, you will be lampooned. The latest installment:
Glowing light ball bench by Manfred Kielnhofer
The funny bench consists of three light balls and two boards.

Robo-Call Retaliation
December 06, 2011, 2:20 PM — Are you ticked off by automated phone calls from political candidates? Now you can do something about it. Visit Reverse Robocall, and for less than the cost of a latte you can make your own automated calls to politicians about things that really bug you (like robocalls).
It’s pretty simple. Choose the issue, party, political entity, or representative you want to call. Plug your phone number into the site. Reverse Robocall will call your phone and let you record a message. Hang up and pay online to have that message sent and get an email report on whether the calls were answered. Better yet, you can post recordings of those calls online, if you choose, so others can listen in and rate your call (witty, angry, dull, etc).
The calls generally cost $2.49 per elected official, but there are group discounts. Got something you need to share with all the major GOP candidates running for president? That will run you $6.49. Have an urge to dial up every Democratic member of Congress? The pleasure can be yours for the low low price of just $19.49.
