CIHAF is the largest and top trade fair for investment and commercial real estate in China. Based on the Chinese market, CIHAF presents its latest real estate projects. It offers the best networking platform, by which decision-makers home and abroad would establish communication and long-term cooperation, and for those who intend to enter China’s property market.

"Toward a Theory of Country Size"

…My starting point is that resources are not spread evenly across regions, so that when one part of a country is rich (as from salt deposits (long ago) or natural harbors or oil reserves), it will prefer to be on its own in order not to share its wealth with a larger group. But of course these pockets of wealth will be vulnerable to attack (trade wars and embargos for starters, but then military invasions too) if they are on their own and not in reliable alliances. "Optimal" country size is thus about compromising security (which is positively correlated with size) with the cost of sharing valuable resources. Risk averse people might agree on a large country size if they did not know whether they would be rich or poor, but once they discover regional wealth, that region can be expected to be exploited.

Vintage All Around

The (ostensible) owner of this cool website left a comment on our blog and automatically entered himself to WIN A FREE SUBSCRIPTION TO DWELL.

I found it relevant to include his website in the MNP hall of records for its general gangsterness.

Vintage Cars, Vintage Clothes, Vintage Toys and Vintage Bikes? Definitely my kind of party. Another thing I noticed about this site is they have like 33,000 images. Perfect for bloggers looking for old stuff.

Check It Out

bleh

This could be funny if it just wasn’t so un-funny. Like if we weren’t all about to sink into the (dirty) ocean.

Amazon’s Kindle Leaks from FCC

Not surprising that it leaked, but I wonder, what is Amazon doing that other ebook readers have tried to do in the past?AA Is it a matter of selection?

amazon_kindle.jpg

Oh, come now, like you thought the world’s largest book retailer (online) — which just started peddling digital video under the Unbox brand — wasn’t going to go head to head with Sony’s Reader on an e-book device and service? Say hello to the Amazon Kindle, their take on a book reader device that comes equipped with a 6-inch 800 x 600 display (which we can only assume is e-ink), 256MB internal storage, smallish two-thumb keyboard cursor bar, scroll wheel, standard mini USB port, 3.5mm headphone jack, SD slot, and get this: EV-DO data! (Don’t believe us? The spec sheet is after the break. Why do you think it was in the FCC?) The user manual also outlines the Kindle Store on Amazon (though doesn’t spec out too many details), but we’re a little less concerned with how we’re getting these supposed e-books right now, and a little more curious about the price and launch. C’mon Amazon, we’ve got the dirt, now how’s about you fill in the details? Engadget

You know how many freaking books I could buy for 400-some-odd dollars?
