Traumgedanken
The book "Traumgedanken" ("Thoughts about dreams") contains a collection of literary, philosophical, psychological and scientifical texts which provide an insight into different dream theories.
To ease the access to the elusive topic, the book is designed as a model of a dream about dreaming. Analogue to a dream, where pieces of reality are assembled to build a story, it brings different text excerpts together. They are connected by threads which tie in with certain key words. The threads visualise the confusion and fragileness of dreams.
On five pages there are illustrations made out of thread. Their shape and colour relies on the key words on the opposite page. This way an abstract image of the dream about dreaming is generated.
In addition there are five pages where a significant excerpt from a text of the opposite page is stitched into the paper. It is not legible because the type's actual surface is inside the folded page. This expresses the mysteriousness of dreams and the aspect of dream interpretation.

Homebrew Computer
Sadly, I was born a couple years too late to grow up with an 8-bit home computer. (though I did use Apple IIs in elementary school.) In an attempt to compensate, and relive a childhood I never had, I’ve decided to design and build my own 8-bit home computer.
There are a number of homebrew computer projects out there. A few of them use additional microcontrollers, FPGAs, and CPLDs. I wanted to keep it authentic and use discrete logic and chips from that time periodanothing surface-mount, nothing that requires an expensive programmer.
What is Service-Craft?
Over the last century, the arc of development of design practice has been from objects, to systems, to communities of systems. Design practice has moved from a focus on hand-craft and form, through an increased focus on meaning and structure, to an increasing focus on interaction and servicesawhat we call "service-craft."
Service-craft includes the design, management, and ongoing development of service systems, the connected touch-points of service delivery. Touch-points are where participants interact with service providers or machines, either in person or through communications networks. For an airline, its website, check-in kiosk, flight attendants, and seats are some of many touch-points. Shelly Evenson describes service as "the experience participants have as they move through a series of touch-points."

Jet Engines and Market Pressures
US-based aerospace analyst Richard Aboulafia says there is enormous pressure on jet engine manufacturers to push the limits of their technology.
"You’ve had a real move by the aeroplane manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, to make aircraft do more, lift more, and go further with better economics," he said.
"In the meantime from the engine maker’s standpoint they have to make a given set of technology do more, fit a variety of different applications."
Computer scientist Professor Peter Ladkin from the University of Bielefeld in Germany says there are growing demands on jet engines makers to reduce their environmental impacts.
"Jet engines are filthy beasts," he said.
Professor Ladkin maintains a database of information on aircraft accidents going back 20 years and he says the pressure on engine technology is coming largely from concerns about climate change and the price of oil.
"Engine manufacturers are feeling pressure to produce cleaner burning engines and cleaner burning engines usually means very much hotter engines," Professor Ladkin said.
"And on the other hand they want to get more power out of them."
