All You Need to Know About E-Music

ishkur.jpg

This is a really fun site. Basically it’s a visual guide to electronic music. The site is somewhere between infinitely informative and utterly ridiculous. I mean just the tutorial… You’ll like it. Lot’s of short music clips and semi-hilarious commentary.

8 Important Lessons From ’80s Cartoons

CARTOON: He-Man
LESSON: Ita€™s OK to be gay.

Look at this guy: golden locks cut in a tasteful bob, buff biceps, tanned, toned, hairless torso, a magic sword and most importantly, fabulous powers. Whata€™s more, He-Man invites his handsome friends, the Masters of the Universe, to come hang out in his castle anytime. Of course Skeletor and his fugly cohorts are never allowed access to the secrets of He-Mana€™s dark, dry palace.
Yes, we had He-Man toys, like Ram-Man, Trap-Jaw and even Castle Grayskull. We also had a favorite pair of tighty whiteys that had He-Man on one cheek and Skeletor on the other, battling over our asshole. But did merely owning and wearing that underwear make us gay?
How it affected us as adults: As regards the above question, ita€™s a very complex matter, but in a word: yes. (For more on depictions of homosexuality in ’80s cartoons, please see Care Bears.)

Car Blogs Not Down With How We Go Stupid

"Jesus Christ had dreads so shake em." - E-40

E-40_edited.jpg

I was just "ghostriding some forums" when I came across this hilarious post on Left Lane News. It’s a post about Hyphy, and how it’s a dangerous craze sweeping the nation… It links to, like, 5 YouTube Hyphy videos. The funniest thing are the comments. These people actually are convinced this is widespread… instead of a veritable handful of videos filmed in Bay Area High School parking lots. They’re all like… "this trend is so stupid!" Well, duh, they (as in Hyphy participators themselves) only refer to hyphy gatherings as "going stupid" and "riding the short bus." I was gonna tell them that most of them knew nothing about hip hop, and needed to shut up, but then decided it wasn’t worth it.

Their first mistake was probably linking to a Canadian news article. Their second was not reading the hyphy wikipedia entry. Guys, it’s called "Ghostriding the whip." Get it right or get it together.
