Highway Wind 3

Highway Wind 2

A runner-up for Metropolis magazine’s 2006 Next Generation Award, Mark Oberholzer with Wittenberg Oberholzer Architects, Laura Koehler, and Michael Morrow, designed these Highway Divider Wind Turbines. These ninjas designed small conical wind turbines that would sit on the concrete dividers along highways, which would be spun by the air movement created by passing traffic. The electricity generated would be fed into a cable running beneath the dividers, and then into the city grid. Check out the rest of the comp HERE.

Wondering why there are no images at Metropolis’ page? That’s because in true ninja fashion this post has the only images on the net [as of now]. Act like you know.

Bose: Not Ninja-Worthy

I’m constantly explaining to people that Bose is NOT by any means a hi-fi audio solution. Finally, a good resource for future fodder has wandered into my battlezone.

FirstAdopter has recently compiled a list of Bose negative reviews which all contain solid arguments. Definitely worth a peek. Among my favorites:

"My roommate a few years back had Bose 301’s. He thought they rocked. I picked up some Wharfedale Valdus 400’s for about $200 less for a pair that simply made him want to cry. He said it made him sick, that he wasted all that money on a set of speakers that he cannot even listen to anymore without getting FURIOUS. To say the difference was night and day is a GROSS understatement."

Wow! Now you can laugh yourself silly while riding the waves of pure aural terror that are the Bladder Buster.

You think your system is LOUD? Try the Bladder Buster!

Ight, picture this:

You have all of your friends and family assembled in your newly-completed home theater room watching the ill new action flick you just (ahem) bought and all of a sudden, your entire house is shaking at the foundation like it’s a 7 on the richter scale. As the scene winds to an end and you fight to choke back the tears involuntarily streaming from your suddenly reddened eyes, you realize those water-proof seat covers the speaker salesman was pushing on you might have been a wise investment…

This is what New Zealand speaker manufacturer Arvus has to say about the Bladder Busters (Yes, that’s the real name):

"This 2 Metre tall generator of bass will force all fluids to vacate your body when used at levels that will put the foundations of your house under stress!"

Now, just so you understand what you’re dealing with, those little off-white drivers that look like tweeters, yeah…those are 12″ subwoofers. Right. Six of ’em. And the big black monster in the middle is a 27″ "non-linear compensator." Certainly ninja-worthy, aiiiiight!

(edit: I just noticed there’s a bottle of wine next to the speaker. They are clearly telling us that you must be drunk to appreciate, and survive, the full effect of this sub.)

I’m gonna hold out ’til they got a version for the whip…

Occult Hymn for Free!

"He’s in it for the quiche/ Might as well as not try and get no free shit capiche?"At least that’s what rapper MF Doom claims on Madvillain. Apparently so, though AdultSwim does seem to be giving the mm..goodness away au gratis. New DANGERDOOM is availalable for download for free at Adult Swim and as always is packing the serious heat in the form of remixes and a few originals from the Mouse in the Mask.

Yo Son, Run That Soundwalk

Besides the fact that you could get jacked for this if you walk through our Dojo at night, the Soundwalk speaker harness looks like exactly the gear for any true urban-sherpa type. You can click the link if you want all the technical details and whatnot, but basically this piece has speakers in it so you can bump your tunes from your favorite DAP. I guess ideally you would rock this underneath your gi. I hope it got a mute button for stealth mode.

The Realest Ninja Alive Act I: Cam’ron vs O’Reilly

Both Ninjas with the random apostrophes in their names(?!). Take note that Cam’Ron actually pays attention to and responds to what the principal says. Also take note of the fact that O’Reilly is so insistent that the Terminator movies are cartoons(!?). Cam’Ron officially wins the Realest Ninja Alive Award of the day for offering up the whole record label to go to school to talk to the school kids. Principals on myninjaplease, try this out and let us know how it works out. The overall point: Educate the young ninjas, please.

Best Lines
Cam’Ron to O’Reilly: "Why you don’t wanna let [Damon Dash] talk? You maaad, You maaad! Where’d you start
Current Affair, Right?"
O’Reilly to Cam’Ron: "Wrong."
Cam’Ron to O’Reilly: "You faked a lot of… You… I got dirt on you, doggy!"
O’Reilly to Cam’Ron: "Cam’Ron, shut up."
Cam’Ron to O’Reilly: "I’ma get at you in a minute."
O’Reilly to Cam’Ron: "You go right ahead and get at me."
Cam’Ron to O’Reilly: "I’ma get at you."

Classic Stop-Motion Video on Youtube

Ninjas can mostly only be captured on video if you, nahmean, slow it down and watch it frame-by-frame. That important factoid aside, here’s a classic video from ’89 by some German ninjas, filmed in the basement of their parents’ crib. And here’s a not so classic one filmed by some wild little dude.

First video by: Wolfgang and Christoph Lauenstein
Second video by: Jon Flowers
Both via YouTube
