Women’s Opportunity Center : Rwanda

Women for Women International, a non-profit that empowers female survivors of war and genocide commissioned this project to bring an educational center to rural Rwanda in 2008. The center has onsite biogas, rainwater catching roofs, and layout that is similar to a traditional village in that it will fuel local commerce and will have a farmer’s market type atmosphere. The women survivors learned the craft of brick-making out of clay to use as the main sustainable building material for their community. Will open in 2012.
