10 Ways to Get Focused

I’ve found that life tends to clutter our minds

The hustle and bustle of juggling the many facets of our busy lives, can make it challenging to keep a clear headspace. Keep it clear we must, though, otherwise we soon find it difficult to focus.

I’ve never really had writer’s block until recently.

It’s quite the frustrating experience really, but I suppose every writer encounters this hurdle at one point or another.

Planking Win

By definition, planking is "the act of lying face down with arms to the sides of the body, in unusual public spaces and photographing it."

That, seemingly simple and non-eventful action is the latest craze, fad, sensation, whatever, that seems to be sweeping not only the country here in the U.S.A. but globally as well.

Who’s doing it? After seeing some photos and videos a few weeks ago I would have said that it was only the geeks of the world (and yes I count myself in that category, so that’s not a knock on the Geek Nation). But lately I’ve been seeing folks from all walks of life getting their plank on !! (Source)

Going Paper-Free for $220

It’s 2011. Personal computers have been around and popular for well over a decade now, and yet we still have to deal with a huge amount of physical paper.

I’ve been wanting to go paper-free for a long time now. The advantages are obvious:

-Paper takes up physical space in our homes that digital files don’t.
-Digital files, if properly encrypted, are far more secure than sheets of paper that could be stolen.
-Digital files can be searched in an instant, while papers have to be laboriously sorted through.
-Digital files can be backed up perfectly and easily.

There is No Tablet Market

There is an growing notion that it is impossible to compete with the Apple iPad. The tablet market isn’t a tablet market. It’s an iPad market and it is largely limited to Apple. Does that mean that PC makers have to surrender?

A couple weeks ago, a casual chat I had with a high-ranking executive from a large Silicon Valley hardware firm took an interesting direction. When I questioned the current strategy of Android tablet makers and pointed to lackluster sales, I was told that "of course, Android can’t compete with the iPad." Of course? It sounded like I was the last one to find out what everyone else in Silicon Valley already knows. There is no market for a general tablet. Not surprisingly, that executive asked not to be quoted since it is never a good idea to question a trend that is reshaping an entire industry and has an effect on billions of dollars of investments.

In the following weeks, I chatted with more people at companies that are heavily involved in tablet development. It was quite stunning that there seems to be virtually no hope left that anyone will be able to ever reach the sales numbers Apple has with its iPad. Quotes to prove this claim? Impossible to get - no one likes to get fired. But there is more credibility to such a statement and the prediction that the iPad is likely to remain the only successful tablet for several years, even if analysts are predicting that more than 50 million tablets will be sold annually by 2015. How to Land a Job

An employer, a candidate and a recruiter. Sometimes recruitment is direct, but often it involves each of the three parties jumping into bed together. Despite early enthusiasm the end result can frequently be disappointing and unsatisfying. It doesn’t have to be this way.

What are we doing wrong?
