Managing Your Own Psychology

As CEO, there will be many times when you feel like quitting. I have seen CEOs try to cope with the stress by drinking heavily, checking out, and even quitting. In each case, the CEO has a marvelous rationalization why it was OK for him to punk out or quit, but none them will ever be great CEOs. Great CEOs face the pain. They deal with the sleepless nights, the cold sweat, and what my friend the great Alfred Chuang (legendary founder and CEO of BEA Systems) calls "the torture." Whenever I meet a successful CEO, I ask them how they did it. Mediocre CEOs point to their brilliant strategic moves or their intuitive business sense or a variety of other self-congratulatory explanations. The great CEOs tend to be remarkably consistent in their answers. They all say: "I didn’t quit." (Source)

Team Art! Will Be at Art Chicago’s Next Art Fair

More than an art fair, NEXT is a showcase for the world’s talents and an adventure in innovative culture. An opportunity to redefine the relationship between art and its public, NEXT is a platform for established and emerging galleries to promote the work of cutting-edge artists.  NEXT is dedicated to the exhibition and advancement of today’s art.  NEXT is the catalyst for the exchange of information and experimental ideas aimed at today’s educated collectors.

For the second year in a row we have made it happen we will be showing our art at one of the world’s largest art events. Last year we made our debut as Allen Vandevers Project space and had great success. The art world used to seem like this mystical place that was only found in fairy tales. Last year we discovered this land and it was as strange and bizarre but magical and beautiful. I hope you come visit us while we secure our foot hold and place in the art world.

Don’t be an Entrepreneur

What type of businessman are you? Hopefully not an entrepreneur…

When they succeed, they succeed big, usually by sheer luck and number of attempts. But just like the gambler, you only hear about that one big win. You never hear of the many losses that, in balance, make the entrepreneur the worst risk to bet your money on. Entrepreneurs are the business world’s big gamblers.

My Ninja, Please! 4.4.11: GMO Cows Making Human Milk

MMMM MMMM MMMMMMM… just like Mama used to make. My Ninja, Please!

The scientists have successfully introduced human genes into 300 dairy cows to produce milk with the same properties as human breast milk.

Human milk contains high quantities of key nutrients that can help to boost the immune system of babies and reduce the risk of infections.

The scientists behind the research believe milk from herds of genetically modified cows could provide an alternative to human breast milk and formula milk for babies, which is often criticised as being an inferior substitute.

They hope genetically modified dairy products from herds of similar cows could be sold in supermarkets. The research has the backing of a major biotechnology company.

The work is likely to inflame opposition to GM foods. Critics of the technology and animal welfare groups reacted angrily to the research, questioning the safety of milk from genetically modified animals and its effect on the cattle’s health. [Read the rest of this absurdity here]

This is almost as sweet as the bovines/swines that glow in the dark. But seriously, people, I mean, think about it! Are we really supposed to be drinking cow’s milk anyway? Why do we think it’s acceptable to drink that but not human milk? Doesn’t that seem ass-backwards? Just sayin’…

Besides possible cancer-causing effects, this is probably better for the chil’rens.
