Garfield Minus Garfield

Garfield Minus Garfield is a site dedicated to removing Garfield from the Garfield comic strips in order to reveal the existential angst of a certain young Mr. Jon Arbuckle. It is a journey deep into the mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness and depression in a quiet American suburb.

Fitting that I haven’t words to describe this site. It’s real.

Lingo Log

Language Log calls the above "an ursine crash blossom." I read the crash blossom description, and I submit that most of the instances I’ve seen since the coining of this ursine term have been way worse than the original. The original should have been understood in context [ that’s what the editor was thinking -Ed.]. That said, they’d have a field day with our archives.

It’s a fun place to spend some time.

Days away from the supposed launch of the Apple tablet, we know almost nothing about it. While we can’t say for sure which rumors are true, we can definitely say which, over the past decade, were just plain dumb.
