THE MURDER!
A good friend of the site, the band THE MURDER, has today’s song of the day on garageband.com.

THE MURDER is a boston-bred punk group led by frontman Dave Benedetti, or, Roach, of previous ENTROPHY fame (1994 to 2004).AA He is also known to moonlight as dancehall soundjockey DJ RXM.

THE MURDER is still relatively new to the scene but plans to take Boston by storm with the release of an upcoming EP.AA Check them out and listen to their song, Boston Burns, which is sort of a pogo punk anthem about the Red Sox winning the ALCS over the (dirty) Yankees in 2004.
"The uptown kids, came downtown tonight! (They came down town tonight)
The riot cops were looking for a fight! (for a fight for a fight)"

I personally love these guys, but let’s hope they don’t actually succeed in painting our state red.

Pac-Man V. Jawbreaker
The defendant published a game called a€oeJawbreakera€A which was created by John Harris. Harris admitted to getting the idea from a€oePac-Mana€A. Jawbreaker was already being marketed for the home computer, while Pac-Man had not yet been marketed. Although both games were maze-based, the judge found there were nine substantial differences, including the music and the way the characters moved.
The court held that there was a€oenothing protectable under the copyright laws as to the a€oePac-Mana€A game itself, and the laws do not protect the strategy of a player symbol being being guided though a maze appearing to bobble up dots in its path while being chased through the maze by several opponents.a€A
The court also held that Atari had not established a likelihood of confusion in the marketplace because Atari had not yet entered the market with its a€oePac-Mana€A game.

Alphabet in the Boiling Pot of Politics
Conservatively speaking, the Azerbaijani or Azeri alphabet to date has been altered four times - to Arabic after the Islamic conquest; to Latin (1928-1938); to Cyrillic (1939-1991) and to Latin again (1991 to present). On each occasion, the motivation for change was political. However, if we consider the replacement of a single letter in any of the phonetic alphabets (Cyrillic or Latin), then the Azeri alphabet has been changed at least ten times (Tables 2,3,4). Nor does this take into account the pre-Islamic scripts used by the Turkic nations and other ancestors of modern Azerbaijanis such as Caucasian Albanians. If those are added, then the historical fgure would be raised to twelve or more, depending on how far back one digs in search of ancient scripts.
