Philharmonic in North Korea?
Philharmonic music director Lorin Maazel says the concert does not in any way legitimize the North Korean leader’s reclusive regime.
He noted he has also conducted concerts in Brezhnev’s Russia, Salazar’s Portugal and Franco’s Spain.
"I thought I was making music and stretching out a welcoming hand to the folks who might not have been believers of the regime under which they were living. I feel this way certainly about North Korea," he said.

Art Typos Part 1
A security guard stands in fornt of Triptych 1974-77 by British painter Francis Bacon during a presentation at Christie’s auction house in January 2008 in London. The three-canvas painting sold for 26.34 million pounds (35.24 million euros, 51.68 million USD) Wednesday, but narrowly missed out on a record for the artist at auction.
The Party at the End of the Earth
This animation is partly inspired by the experimental "cutup" work of many artists, writers and musicians of the last 100 years including the Naked Lunch by William Burroughs (1959) — "a frozen moment when everyone sees what is on the end of every fork". It is also partly inspired by my feeling a lack of understanding current events surrounding the collapse of the world trade centre and the attack on terror.
The kid sits in his room paranoid and delirious… poised on the brink of insanity, plagued by paranoid psychosis. But the mask is calling. The time is now.
With the masks magic powers he flies across the fields of conspiracy chased by the tentacles of technology.
A rave on a cliff at the end of our world. The event horizon. A cure for sanity.
