New McDonalds Beatbox Ad
No, you’re mistaken again, Stuey.AA We’re not advertising for McDonalds…. but on a side note, we’re into nuggets too.
Anyoldways, have any of you seen the ridiculous new Mickey D’s beatbox ad?AA You know damned well you have, ‘cuz you watch too much TV (yes, you).AA Well if you haven’t seen it, click here.AA You wouldn’t want to be behind on your Mickeys-game.AA Also see what the bloggers say. [Note: that first link is silly, but the ninja was so heated I had to include it]
I mean, despite that it’s sort of funny, I almost yomited (and yes, I said, ‘yomit’).AA One dude beatboxes while the other dude spits some rap about how he’s "into nuggets, yeah."AA This is one of those campaigns that these companies have started where they think that getting user generated content is going to help them sell their product.AA While I’m tempted to go on about how that won’t work and how there’s an actual reason people switched from your average snake oil ads to money-laden and consequently ostentatious campaigns, I must digress by saying that this is probably better than all the rest of the piss poor ads I see, from MD’s and others.AA Still, why does it always have to be a rap?
Whatever happened to:
On second thought, maybe I’m not nostalgic.

charleston style
The Charleston is a dance named for the city of Charleston, South Carolina. The rhythm is a traditional one from West Africa, popularized in mainstream dance music in the United States of America by a 1923 tune called The Charleston by composer/pianist James P. Johnson which originated in the Broadway show Runnin’ Wild and became one of the most popular hits of the decade.
While it developed in African-American communities in the USA, the Charleston became a popular dance craze in the wider international community in the 1920s. Despite its black history, Charleston is most frequently associated with white flappers and the speakeasy. Here, these young women would dance alone or together as a way of mocking the "drys," or citizens who supported the Prohibition amendment, as Charleston was then considered quite immoral and provocative.

Sir Norman : Boldly Going…
… where no architect has gone before. As many of you may have heard, Sir Norman + Partners were chosen to design the first commercial ‘spaceport’ - the New Mexico Spaceport Authority Building [yes, the New Mexico Spaceport Authority really exists], run by the appropriately named Virgin Galactic. Now the design has been released [as of last week, I believe], revealing an interesting futuristic/alien looking spaceport that I think looks a lot like the cross between some extra-terrestrial mothership and a crop circle.

William Rodriguez
William Rodriguez, is a native of Puerto Rico, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the State of New Jersey. On September 11, 2001, and for approximately nineteen years prior thereto, Rodriguez was employed as a maintenance worker at the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York, New York.
On 9/11, Rodriguez single-handedly rescued fifteen (15) persons from the WTC, and as Rodriguez was the only person at the site with the master key to the North Tower stairwells, he bravely led firefighters up the stairwell, unlocking doors as they ascended, thereby aiding in the successful evacuation of unknown hundreds of those who survived. Rodriguez, at great risk to his own life, re-entered the Towers three times after the first, North Tower impact at about 8:46 A.M., and is believed to be the last person to exit the North Tower alive, surviving the building’s collapse by diving beneath a fire truck. After receiving medical attention at the WTC site for his injuries, Rodriguez spent the rest of 9/11 aiding as a volunteer in the rescue efforts, and at dawn the following morning, was back at Ground Zero continuing his heroic efforts.
Rodriguez lost his employment of 19 years and his means of earning a living as a direct result of the attacks on the WTC on 9/11. Deeply affected, as one might imagine, by his experiences of 9/11, Rodriguez has, in a variety of capacities and through several different organizations, worked ever since that terrible day to help others who were affected by the atrocities committed. He has continued in these labors, notwithstanding the fact that, due to the loss of his employment, he has been unable to earn a living, and was even homeless for a time.

DIGITAL MAOISM: The Hazards of the New Online Collectivism
No, the problem is in the way the Wikipedia has come to be regarded and used; how it’s been elevated to such importance so quickly. And that is part of the larger pattern of the appeal of a new online collectivism that is nothing less than a resurgence of the idea that the collective is all-wise, that it is desirable to have influence concentrated in a bottleneck that can channel the collective with the most verity and force. This is different from representative democracy, or meritocracy. This idea has had dreadful consequences when thrust upon us from the extreme Right or the extreme Left in various historical periods. The fact that it’s now being re-introduced today by prominent technologists and futurists, people who in many cases I know and like, doesn’t make it any less dangerous.
