Neon Nights

neon.jpg

From site:

New York has a marvelous collection of neon signs, and while we’ve heretofore collected scads of them on previous Signs pages we’ve never previously done a Neon Nights page, when the signs are doing what they were born to do. Your webmaster’s Canon Powershot S1 IS is ill-equipped for night photography. That’s why you call in the pros, like Forgotten Fan Steve Garza, who uses a Canon 20D w/ 80-200mm f4.

WTF?!?!?!

Ummm… Whoa. These are a couple of antique Japanese figurines being sold in an online antique shop sale of basketball memoribilia. They are from the 1950s and have real rabbit fur in their loin cloths. Not much to say, just showing you all the madness that can ensue in a day of hardcore web browsing. What I do want to know is who is going to buy these figurines for 200 bucks? Maybe the dude from Bamboozled.

Antiques Sale with figurines (Pretty sloppy site, do a search for "Japan")

Finally a Ninja Celly!

Wow. You have no idea how many times I wished for this.AA Enfour Inc. has developed an application that allows Japanes phone users to look up American words in the dictionary using their phone’s camera. Yes, this is stuff of the future. The only real downside is that since most cell phones have limited storage space, the actual dictionary word lookup is through the cellular network and is available only as a subscription. Still, I want it. Guess us American ninjas will have to wait for our technology as usual! The service rolled out in Japan August 31.

Mutsuguro-san…The New Crocodile Hunter?

We at MNP have spent the past few days lamenting the death of our favorite ninja of the animal kingdom, Steve Erwin, the Crocodile Hunter.
We recently came across videos of Matsunori "Mutsuguro " Hata, an old animal loving ninja who we’d like to fancy as the Japanese Crocodile Hunter.

Check out this video.

And another.

More Literary Porn

(click picture for larger image)

First, we had the ultra-sexy libraries, and now this. This illustration by Seymour Chwast was done for the book Design Humor: The Art of Graphic Wit by Steve Heller.

There Goes the Neighborhood…

Why the gnomes gotta be black? This hilariously titled (There Goes the Neighborhood) installation piece by Zoe Charlton and Rick Delaney comments on the American dream and the societal divisions of race and class.

Entertain a Lot of Couch Surfers?

If you have a constant guy on the couch, you may have considered copping a convertible sofa-bed (or maybe just kicking his sorry ass out), but do not think such things ever again! This convertible sofa is easily transformed into a full-sized bunk-bed. This way, you’ve got room for not one, but two of these roaming ninjas. Very nice.
