Music From Cowboy Bebop: Too Ill!

I’ve been a huge fan of of the anime Cowboy Bebop and its creator, Shinichiro Watanabe, since I first saw the show a few years back. The animation was great, the intergalactic bounty-hunter theme was obviously a score for us ninjas and the plot and story boards stayed interesting every time I came back for more. Perhaps my favorite part, though, was the jazz-inspired soundtrack. The music in this show is really bangin’!

Now, far from new, but new to me, the soundtrack is available online for free, at least most of it.

Also, be sure to check out Watanabe’s most recent show, Samurai Champloo, which also features a brilliant soundtrack! ya heard?

Birds, Birds Everywhere!

From Beat in Switzerland:

"the idea of Windowzoo is simple. you know those bird-stickers one uses to scare birds away from big glass-surfaces (so they won’t fly into the glass)? my friend started making his own bird-shapes out of sticky foil, and keeps putting them up on various locations all around the world - but almost always on glass, also besides the "boring" standard-stickers. As this is non-destructive art only visible to those with keen eyes and a sense for discovering the unusual, it remains exhibited longer - and generates more buzz among those in the know.

Right now there are 169 birds in 55 cities all around the globe. have a look at the worldmap showing the locations that he put up in the "about" section."

This Robot Can Roll! It’s got steez!

The Murio, which stands for "music innovation based on utility robot technology," has an iPod dock in its back. Once you plug in, the robot will follow you around wherever you go, playing your jams. You know you want one.AA The tech they’ve implemented in this thing is dope. If you don’t have an iPod or it’s plugged into your other Murio (I wish), the robot has wireless networking capabilities to stream music from your home computer. The robot can also be configured with a built-in camera and sensors for the afore-mentioned music stalking. The Murio went on sale Thursday in Japan with a price tag of just under a grand.

Brooklyn Keeps on Makin It!

Opening today at the Heidi Cho Gallery in Manhattan is an exhibition entitled "A to B and Back Again."

"The show centers on a group of Brooklyn designers, many of whom began their careers by working within the Manhattan establishment, galleries, showrooms, and artists’ studios. Striking out on their own, however, they gravitated to Brooklyn, an environment conducive to their creativity and the examination of concept and process that invariably underlies their designs."
Brooklyn keeps on makin it! Manhattan keeps on takin it!

Monkeys are ninjas, too!

MACAQUE! Sorry, I just like shouting that word from time to time. Very staccato.

Aaanyways, this is not very surprising to me, but definitely very awesome and even a little cute, if I can get away with saying that. Some Italian ninja scientists have proven once and for all that monkeys are extremely intelligent by testing baby macaque monkeys.
From article:

Pier Ferrari at the University of Parma, Italy, and colleagues tested 21 newborn macaques by holding each in front of a researcher who made various facial expressions.

At one day old, none of the infants showed any imitation. By day three, however, infants started to copy the researchersa€™ expressions, including tongue protrusions, mouth opening and lip smacking a€" all typical macaque expressions.
