James Dixon: World Tour ’06

james_1.jpg
I’ve got to be honest…I hate James a lil bit for this, but I figured I should move on and give him his props. This SOB just finished his tour of [some of] the globe, leaving photos and a blog to incite jealousy in those of us who know him. Enjoy.

[note: you hate him a lil too now, am I right?]

"All you see is" then in block letters…

boogie03.jpg

We’re not exactly sure (or recognizant of) who originally recommended this photographer, who some of you probably already know as Boogie. He’s a ninja that takes ill photos of urban culture in New York, specifically crime and drugs.

boogie02.jpg

A lot of Boogie’s work is pretty shocking/jaw-dropping, as you can see. His artistic cred is pretty good though; the photos speak for themselves. This guy has photos in numerous popular publications as well as all over the net. Check his site here, or buy his photo book here ("It’s All Good").

gun.jpg

A gritty, graphic, and gripping exposA© of the underworld and its inhabitants, Ita€™s All Good, the first monograph by Boogie, presents the predators and the prey in the drug game today. Shot in New York Citya€™s most notorious neighborhoodsa€"Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, and Queensbridgea€"Boogie gained intimate access into a world few dare to venture, a world closed to outsiders, a world of crackheads, junkies, and gangsters. From the cops patrolling the project roofs
to the addicts overdosing on the streets, Ita€™s All Good chronicles ghetto life in stark, heart-stopping images and intense testimonials. Boogie brings us to a place few will leave and most will stay, a place where escape is one rock, one shot, one glock away.

Boogie was born in Serbia and immigrated to the United States in 1998. His work has appeared in Cube (Sartoria/Modena, 2003), as well as Italian Rolling Stone, Hamburger Eyes, SWINDLE, Vice, Mass Appeal, YRB, OjodePez, and MADE Magazine, among other publications. His clients
include Nike and Shellac. Boogie lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

Astronomers

marshorizon_opportunity.jpg

Yeah that’s an actual picture of sand and clouds on the surface of mars. You can go to this little NASA site and see a new one every day, in hi-res of course. The kicker is that you get a lil explanation along with the pic by a pro researcher. Nice? Niiiiiiiiiiice.
