Clarks Lugger

They’re almost like low-cut Wallos - but with a twist. The Clarks ‘Luggers’ were sold in the US a decade or so ago, and have been hugely popular in Japan - and now are making an incredibly limited-run comeback in the US. check for them at David Z.

Pretty feckin’ dope, if you ask me. To bad I just got new Wallabees…

Feel free to cop a pair for me for putting you on to the dopeness. I’m a size 12.

Jail House Fire Hot Sauce

We’ve tried plenty of sauces that were criminally hot, but never one made by actual criminals. Jail House Fire Hot Sauce ($7) is created by inmates at the Hillsborough County Jail in Tampa, FL and comes in three burning flavors - Original, made from a recipe of peppers and spices, the chipotle-based Smoke, and No Escape, the prisoners’ hottest creation yet. In addition, all profits go to support equipment and supplies for inmate programs, so you’re helping to offer someone a second chance with each bottle purchased.

Social Security Number Misuse

078-05-1120 is the most misused social security number ever.some 40,000 people have claimed this SSN as their own. Here is the story behind it:

In 1938, wallet manufacturer the E. H. Ferree company in Lockport, New York decided to promote its product by showing how a Social Security card would fit into its wallets. A sample card, used for display purposes, was inserted in each wallet. Company Vice President and Treasurer Douglas Patterson thought it would be a clever idea to use the actual SSN of his secretary, Mrs. Hilda Schrader Whitcher.

The wallet was sold by Woolworth stores and other department stores all over the country. Even though the card was only half the size of a real card, was printed all in red, and had the word "specimen" written across the face, many purchasers of the wallet adopted the SSN as their own. In the peak year of 1943, 5,755 people were using Hilda’s number. SSA acted to eliminate the problem by voiding the number and publicizing that it was incorrect to use it. (Mrs. Whitcher was given a new number.) However, the number continued to be used for many years. In all, over 40,000 people reported this as their SSN. As late as 1977, 12 people were found to still be using the SSN issued by Woolworth.

My Ninja PLEASE ! 12.4.09

Homeless to illin’ with a couple billion. Seriously. Read the story below the break.

Two brothers who are so poor they live in a cave on the outskirts of Budapest and get by selling scavenged junk are in line to receive a $6.6 billion inheritance from a long-lost grandmother, the U.K. Daily Telegraph reports.

Zsolt and Geza Peladi have been informed that they are entitled to the fortune, along with a sister who lives in the United States the newspaper reported Wednesday.

Charity workers in Hungary passed on the good news to the brothers after being contacted by lawyers handling the estate of their maternal grandmother, who died recently in Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, the Telegraph said.

"We knew our mother came from a wealthy family but she was a difficult person and severed ties with them, and then later abandoned us and we lost touch with her and our father until she eventually died," Geza Peladi, 43, was quoted as saying by ATV television in Hungary.

"If this all works out it will certainly make up for the life we have had until now - all we really had was each other - no women would look at us living in a cave," said Geza Peladi.

"But with money, maybe we can find a partner and finally have a normal life. We don’t know yet if she even told our grandmother about us. I understand it was only while they were carrying out genealogical research that lawyers found we existed."

Under German law, direct descendants are automatically entitled to a share of any estate. As the grandmother’s daughter is dead, the money goes to her grandchildren.

It’s pretty hard nowadays to find something refreshing from contemporary hip-hop.

BLAKROC is a business model / concept project from the man himself, Damon Dash. Rising from bankruptcy he has sculpted a unit of 11 artists with the likes of Jim Jones (yes he spits some nasty rhymes on this believe it or not) and legends like Rae the Chef and Pharaoh Monche with the "rock" group the Black Keys. The plan was 11 artists, 11 days, 11 tracks plus the Black Keys.

Check out the intro video to the project below and if you’re hungry for more, there’s 11 Webisodes to watch and enjoy. If you still are looking for music movements that aren’t stale as fuck check out what’s been brewing over at MusicMNP. And maybe you’ll even buy the album.

My Ninja Please! 11.19.09

"As a curator, I have a responsibility to the artists, who are my teammates, O’Neal said. We all have to make each other look good — no different than what I do on the court."

In a move that will sure shock the art world, Shaquille O’Neal is scheduled to curate an exhibit entitled Size DOES Matter for The FLAG Art Foundation. The exhibition will be on view from February 19, 2010 - May 27, 2010 and includes works from international artists exploring the different ways that scale affects the perception of contemporary art. Good luck my ninja, bring down the backboard of some canvases!

"It was a little harder than I thought it would be," O’Neal told Bloomberg. "When you think about what each of the artists put into their work, what they are expressing and want to share with the world, you feel bad about having to narrow it down."

Blazer Pentium 1.0 - Upcycled Kicks

Artist Gabriel Deshaw created this pair of Jordans - which he calls ‘Blazer Pentium 1.0‘ - by ‘upcycling’ scrapped metal and computer parts. Currently up for sale, they’re a men’s size 9.5 - but weigh in at about 15 pounds. I don’t think you’ll be breakin’ any ankles, other than you your own, while rocking these - but they’re still kind of dope.

This sculpture is part of a shoes series I’m currently working where I revisit some of my favorite classic sneakers silhouettes. With this piece I again tried to create a complete piece with both box and shoe notice some of the details, shoes lock down inside of box for easy portability, I also tied this piece around a theme,"Pentium", the name of Intel’s chips. You will notice this repeated through out the shoes, and box (via).
