Purchasing Power

Purchasing power is a measure of what can be bought in the territory in which that money is earned. It is cheaper to live in some places than others.

Taking differences in local costs into consideration, this map shows that 46% of world wealth adjusted for purchasing power is in North America and Western Europe. The regions with the most purchasing power per person are North America, Japan and Western Europe. Despite the lower prices found in Central Africa, the people living there still have the lowest purchasing power. The proportion of world wealth found in Central Africa is greater when measured in purchasing power than when measured using exchange rates.

DEA targets larger marijuana providers

The federal agency sees big profits for medical dispensaries as a sign of illegal high-stakes drug dealing. Advocates say the raids are unfair.

Attention Ninjas: Block that round-kick!

A new study out confirms what most dojo-going folks know already, kicks hurt like a mofo and do some damage:

"the researchers found that people who had been kicked were most likely to suffer serious injury - even more so than those who had been attacked with a blunt or sharp weapon."

Some have demonstrated this for quite some time now.

The Library of Radiant Optimism

We started the library as way to gather, look at, and catalog a groundswell of optimistic and visionary activities in the late 1960s and early 1970s. We had discussions about the similarities between a handful of books we knew of, and the culture of Mess Hall, an experimental cultural center in Chicago that we have both been active in for over three years. Mess Hall is organized around an \"economy of generosity,? freely sharing information and materials. The books are important precursors to Mess Hall, embracing the grass roots exchange of information and themes of self and community empowerment. These books are written from the counter-culture. Their authors were interested in communicating their direct experience as it related to their experiments for living in harmony with the natural landscape, building sustainable communities, and so on. We were excited to read about practical applications of optimistic ideas for radical change, and to continue putting our own ideas into this tradition.

Let?s Re-make is a collaborative art project by Bonnie Fortune and Brett Bloom.

MNP Update!

You know we keep it coming. I thought I told you that we don’t stop (bad boy, bad boy, take that, take that).

No, but seriously:

politricks.mnp is open for business! You might notice it over there in the dojo, if you’re up on your training, that is. You gotta love the politrickal content we bring you here on myninjaplease, and, we were sitting around thinking, "why not just open a politickal site and hit ’em with that?" And since we couldn’t think of a reason not to do such a thing, we got real blunt (tube status) and did it. So now go there. And, when you’re done come back. Keep watch for many more [tag]mnp updates[/tag].

OK, just to review (cuz I know how ninjas are) that brings our microsites to:

the pimp’s corner [somehow broke itself today, but will be right by tommorrow].

and of course:

And i’m starting to hear whispers of:

… but who knows? Stay tuned.
